We are bombarded daily with advertisements for green powders.
No wonder, as the market is booming:
In detail, the drinks promise a strengthened immune system, a noticeable energy boost in daily life, better focus at work, and improved digestion.
Nevertheless, most remain skeptical: Big promises from providers, high prices, and at the same time, feedback from friends and experts is rather mixed.
As a nutritionist, I often tell my clients:
It comes down to the details – the composition and quality of green drinks determine whether they really work or are just a waste of money.
The fact is: 90% of products on the market do not live up to their promises.
That’s why I’ve taken a close look at the most popular drinks from my perspective as a nutrition scientist:
What should you look for when buying? Which products deliver what they promise? And which green drink is the best in 2025?
Why Green Drinks at All?
Mornings can feel heavy when getting up, you can’t think clearly, you feel like you’re dragging yourself from one cold to the next, and digestion just isn’t smooth.
Many people feel overwhelmed by these symptoms and struggle to manage their daily lives: “How will I get through today?”
The crucial question many ask themselves is: How do I manage this?
The answer seems simple: Through proper nutrition.
But the reality is a bit different.

Hidden Problems: Why Diet Alone Isn’t Enough for 90%
Let’s be honest: Most of us try hard to eat a balanced diet and get enough fruits and vegetables.
I observe this every day in my practice as a nutritionist.
After all, we all know the “5 portions of fruits and vegetables” rule.
According to the official recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (DGE) and WHO, this corresponds to about 400 grams of vegetables and 250 grams of fruit per day.
However, a representative study by the DGE shows that most Germans do NOT reach these recommendations.
87.4% of Germans eat insufficient vegetables and another 59% eat insufficient fruit!
The result: About 42 million people fall short of the recommendation!
Additionally, nutrient-poor soils mean that our fruits and vegetables contain fewer vitamins and minerals than ever.

One thing is certain: If you constantly struggle with symptoms like fatigue, concentration problems, or a weak immune system, it’s a clear sign of nutrient deficiency. Without the right nutrients, the body cannot function optimally.
This is where supplements come into play. They can help make up for what’s missing in the diet.
For each problem, there is a suitable product – vitamin D tablets, iron supplements, magnesium capsules.
That sounds great, as long as you only want to supplement one thing. But what if you want a holistic approach and need to supplement multiple nutrients?
Quickly, you end up taking a handful of capsules per day. This is not only inconvenient but often unnecessary.

Why Green Drinks Can Make Sense
Green drinks are a popular alternative because a single drink can combine up to 99 different ingredients.
Instead of taking many different supplements, a green drink offers the chance to support the body holistically.
This makes them not only practical but also effective – because the body is a complex system that cannot rely on one-dimensional solutions.
A high-quality green drink ensures that you don’t miss any essential nutrients and gives your body exactly what it needs.
This way, you supply yourself holistically without compromising on quality.

Criteria: What Really Matters in Green Drinks
As a nutritionist, I know there are many green drinks on the market, and few deliver on their promises.
Many green drinks simply do not cover all essential nutrients, the nutrients are of poor quality, and the taste is unpleasant.
My 5 criteria for a good green drink:
1. Covers all essential nutrients
The purpose of a green drink is complete 360-degree nutrition. What’s the point of a drink that misses key nutrients?
A good green drink should contain ALL 13 vitamins, the most important minerals, probiotics for a healthy gut, antioxidants, and other key ingredients. Secondary plant compounds, which are often missing in isolated supplements, are also important.
Even though many brands advertise high ingredient numbers, some omit essential nutrients like vitamin D or magnesium.
2. Each ingredient in optimal quality & dosage
It’s no use if all nutrients are present (criterion 1) but in low-quality forms.
Or worse: mixed with contaminants, heavy metals, sugar, and additives.
Therefore, only high-quality ingredients with high bioavailability should be used – in scientifically proven doses.
An example is Coenzyme Q10, a true energy booster for our cells, which should ideally be in the highly bioavailable Ubiquinol form rather than cheaper Ubiquinone.
3. Good taste
Let’s be honest: If a green drink tastes like cardboard or dirt, we won’t drink it regularly, and the package will gather dust.
A good green drink should taste delicious and natural, enjoyable enough to drink every morning.
No added sugar or artificial flavors.
4. Practical use
The best drink is the one you actually take consistently.
Portioned daily sachets are more convenient than huge tubs of powder.
They can be quickly mixed on a hectic morning or on the go, without dealing with measuring scoops.
5. Transparency on ingredients & production
You should have confidence in what you put in your body.
For me, this includes a full, transparent list of all ingredients, dosages, and the origin of raw materials.
Also important: trusted production, regular testing by external labs, and certifications like the Cologne List.
Scientific product development ensures a well-composed formula reaches the consumer.
Here, there are huge differences: some brands provide full transparency on their website, while others don’t even communicate all dosages or where the powder is produced.
Green Drinks Reviewed: A Clear Favorite Emerges
I examined various green drinks on the market – big and small brands, influencer hype products, and traditional Austrian companies – and evaluated them against my five quality criteria.
The result was clear: only one product met all criteria with flying colors – BIOGENA ONE.
1st Place & Test Winner: BIOGENA ONE

Highlights
- 99 valuable nutrients: Best all-in-one coverage
- Highest-quality ingredients & effective dosages
- Best taste in testing (Apple-Kiwi)
- Convenient daily portions
- Transparent ingredients & production
BIOGENA ONE is relatively new compared to other well-known green drinks but excels in all five criteria.
It provides the broadest nutrient coverage I’ve seen in tests, including all 13 vitamins, 11 minerals, probiotics, amino acids, antioxidants, algae, and more.
A total of 99 ingredients in one drink, whereas most competitors provide only 30–70.
What convinces me most: unlike many competitors, no essential nutrients like vitamin D or magnesium are missing. Other products often require separate purchases.
The ingredients in BIOGENA ONE are consistently high-quality (e.g., highly bioavailable Ubiquinol instead of cheaper Ubiquinone), many with higher bioavailability than competitors, and fully transparent.
The natural Apple-Kiwi flavor is delicious – not too sweet, not artificial, not grassy like many other green drinks.
An additional plus: production in Austria with rigorous quality checks by external institutes.
