Metabolic syndrome is a combination of various symptoms that usually occur together and are responsible for cardiovascular diseases. This is a carbohydrate metabolism disorder that can result in high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, fat metabolism disorder and obesity.
The title “prosperity disease”, as the metabolic syndrome is often called, illustrates the causes of the occurrence of the diseases. The symptoms usually occur in affluent societies, such as North America or Europe, as a result of malnutrition or overeating.
In the industrialised countries, the metabolic syndrome is the most common indicator of the development of a disease alongside tumour disease.
Being overweight usually brings with it the symptoms mentioned above, which in turn drastically increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. These cardiovascular diseases are now the number one cause of death.
The probability of developing metabolic syndrome is often related to the fat distribution pattern in the body. There are two types. The so-called apple type and the so-called pear type. The pear type is an equally distributed fat content in the body. With the apple type however the fat tissue is attached as stomach fat, which brings a substantially stronger endangerment with itself.
In addition it comes to an increased formation of stress hormones, which increases the blood sugar level, increases the protein degradation and shifts the fat metabolism, which leads again to an increased inflammation readiness, insulin resistance and increased oxidative stress. This ultimately increases the risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
The symptoms at a glance
high blood pressure
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, can be caused by unchangeable factors such as heredity, age and gender as well as by changeable factors such as lack of exercise, stress, lifestyle and diet. Further information on this topic can be found here.
Diabetes mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder of the glucose metabolism that leads to an elevated blood sugar level. This glucose metabolism disorder is caused by reduced insulin sensitivity or general insulin deficiency. Despite an increased blood sugar level, there is a glucose deficiency because the cells cannot absorb enough glucose from the blood. Further information on this topic can be found here.
Fat metabolism disorder
With the fat metabolism disorder, the blood fats are increased in an empty state. A distinction is made between primary, which are hereditary, and secondary fat metabolism disorders, which are caused by other diseases.
Obesity
Obesity is obesity. Obesity is defined as an excess weight of 10% above the normal or ideal weight or a body mass index of more than 25 kg/m².
Doing what?
A combination of licorice root extracts, green tea and caffeinated guarana has regulating effects on the causes that play a major role in the development of metabolic syndrome. Caffeine and green tea contribute to the general stimulation of the metabolism and can influence the fat metabolism. Thus the symptoms are reduced. The caffeine from guarana can also improve cognitive performance such as memory, performance and responsiveness, and reduce fatigue.
