Greater resilience, relaxation, and competence is possible through the supply of the minerals potassium, magnesium, zinc and selenium.
Who does not wish to be more resilient and more successful in dealing with stress? If you can conquer stress, you can increase your general well-being, boost your health, and easily recover from life’s disruptions despite not being able to stop stress-inducing occurrences. Due to a high resilience, it is possible to adapt to tough living conditions and face them with a positive attitude.
If you are not distracted by stressful situations, your actions can be more thoughtful and enjoyable. Thoe who have weak mental resilience are susceptible to disease. This vulnerability of a person to external factors defines the link between a person’s resilience to stress and their current state of health. People with mental disorders therefore have a lower level of psychological resilience.
Potassium, magnesium, zinc and selenium increased mental resilience by over 11%.
Our mineral and vitamin status can directly and indirectly influence our psyche, hormone balance, and immune system. It is therefore possible that a person’s mood and stress perception can also be improved by the targeted and complementary absorption of nutrients.
A new study with 202 participants found that the intake of potassium, magnesium, zinc and selenium increased overall psychological resilience by more than 11%. Perceptions of energy levels showed an impressive increase of over 37%. In addition, basic attitudes of optimism, problem solving, acceptance, behavioral strategies of personal responsibility, and self-regulation were strengthened.
But why does the absorption of these minerals lead to the result of a higher resilience?
Magnesium is responsible for the formation of energy and controls our reactions to stress and anxiety. However, over 50% of the population does not absorb enough magnesium through food. According to studies by the University of Vienna, the same applies to potassium content. This in turn can lead to general states of exhaustion, because potassium serves to activate the energy metabolism.
Selenium and zinc strengthen the immune system causes anti-oxidation, which has a positive effect on mental or physical stress. According to reports from the Agency for Health and Food Security (AGES) in Vienna, at least 20% of the population does not consume enough zinc and selenium.
The supplementation of these nutrients thus strengthens a person’s psychological resilience to the negative consequences of stress and adverse living conditions. Loss of energy, states of exhaustion, burnout, perceived permanent stress, permanent physical tension, and the resulting illnesses such as mental disorders or depression can thus be avoided.
